ATD Crazy Quilt Body and TAST

7:50 PM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 3 Comments »
I have been working on the other Artist Trading Doll Bodies for my swap on Fabric-olics group. This has been a nice afternoon/evening as I crazy quilted this body. I also was behind on my TAST so I incorporated my stitches into this project. I have the barred chain across the top, the cross stitch down the middle next to the spider and the Double Barred buttonhold on the right. I did split the bar making it look like a V. I had fun making the spider web and spider. Tomorrow I will make the rest of her parts!

Art Doll Foldy Completed

Here is my Artist Trading Doll Foldy. I completed her today. I think I'll call her Rhinestone Petals. I have three pictures of her. One folded up, a closeup and a full body pose. For my first ATD I think she came out pretty nice. I have made her wings out of left over embroidery threads sandwiched between wws. Her body is hand felted and attached to a cardboard backing. I glued on some silk flowers and leaves to give some dimension. I used heat set crystals on her head, necklace, arms and toes. All pieces are attached with brads. I have to make 3 more of these type dolls but have decided to do their bodies crazy quilt style with silk embroidery. When I start them I will post pictures!

Oh, these are so much fun to make.... I used my needle felter and created a body and head. I then glued them to the cardboard body and head patterns. I attached the head and glued on the face. This one is a practice run LOL. I still have to add legs arms and wings!!!

Friday when I got home from work...after supper....I decided to get out my polymer clay and make some faces for another swap I've joined on the Fabric olics group. It's an Artist Trading Doll...a foldy type. I have to make 3 of them and I've decided to make some clay faces. I need to paint them. So this is what I've done so far. I will also post as I go with making these atc dolls. I've never made them before and I am looking forward to the swap. You can see some of these at Patti's Site.

Felted Easter Egg Postcards WIP

8:15 AM Posted In , , , Edit This 1 Comment »
Good Morning, I thought I would post my work in progress on my Easter Postcard Swap.

I belong to a few postcard groups and I joined one for Easter. So I decided to use the needle felter. I had some white felt, and I purchased some bright bulky type yarn. I traced an egg pattern onto the felt and just took the yarn back and forth across the egg with the felter. I am going to add some beading and laces to them too. I always start out making my postcards background bigger than they should be and then cut them to size after I am ready to sew the backing on to them. I will put some warm and natural batting in the middle and a layer of heavy stablizer and then quilt around the egg....after that I get another piece of heavy stablizer and the backing material and fuse the two pieces together. I always use a walking foot for putting all the pieces together. It keeps them from shifting and I also use a type of tweezer with teeth to hold the top and bottom so it doesn't shift as I go. I will post more pictures as I go. Here are the tops with the felting done.

Needle Felted Hat

Here is my needle felted Hat for the new doll I am making. I crocheted a brown circle and needle felted in yarns around....I think it came out pretty nice. The pictures sure don't do it justice. I used the clover needle tool to make this

Here is the 2nd Block for the IFQ flowers and butterflies CQRR. I just love Beatrice's colours. I have added the White Fan and ribbon...with the tulip stitch border with beads to accent. I do hope she likes it.

12 pc Doll Exchange

Wow it's been a fun sewing day...after of course doing groceries LOL...I have finally worked my 12 pc's of material and beads and laces and rose flowers into my doll. She is a Natural Girl....here are her pictures.

I made some tatted butterflies and put one in her hair and in the flowers that she's holding
I used my felting needles to create her hair.
I sculpted and painter her face/body

I painted her shoes and gave her painted green stockings LOL
Her purple part of her dress is a butterfly material I gathered and sewed into place...and cut strips to give an airy look...I added bits of the orange strips for contrast.

I gave her fairy wings.....on day I will start making my own LOL...I would have preferred bigger and more colourful...but these will do.

Needle Felted Heart Decoration

Here is a heart I made with using linen and yarns. I think it came out pretty cute. I'm going to hang it in my car.

The first picture is the side I used the needles on. I added beads and a bit of yarn around the edge and to make the loop. The second picture is what you get on the backside of the needles...lots of fluff!!! I then added the tassle and the butterflies...in the center of the heart is a round sequin with a tiny butterfly. Not bad for my second felting project.

Felting Fun

Here is a heart that I needle felted. I took ordinary yarn and felted it into the base fabric and then I added beads to the flowers. It's just a hand felter from clover...and I bought the different size felting needles and the bigger base for it. I need to get some roving wool....guess that means another shopping trip...lol yippee!!!!

IFQ FAP swap

Here are my 3 postcards for the International Friendship Quilters swap of shoe pc's.
I put heat crystals on for the buttons up the shoes. I think they came out pretty nice.

I also went shopping today to Mary Maxim and I picked up a felting tool...I've been playing with that today. It's alot of fun! I'll post pictures later of my playtime. I also picked up some more tatting thread...as I want to make some edgings and flowers and butterflies for the quilt I have for my daughter. I think it would make a great accent.

What a WEEK

First off...from Friday until Tuesday I was in bed sick. NO stitching or any fun at all....went to the doctors...have chest infection along with sinus and earache....ohhhh the coughing hurt sooooooo much....then...went back to work finally on Wednesday...not totally better yet....but did what I had to do....Thursday comes....and we get hit with a snow storm!!!! Right before the ice starts I am sent home to avoid it!...Thank you my wonderful boss!! As it was horrible out already...I was so glad to be home before that part hit...I live about 10-15 minutes from work...but the traffic is like driving a national highway LOL....So we are now at Friday!!! SNOW DAY!! Lots of ice all over....powerlines are down all around where I work..so no power...roads closed all over the place....so am home...but I thought I would share these pictures of our wonderful weather.....These first few are the front of my house...all the bushes and trees are covered and weighted down.....but they do look pretty!

These above are looking out from my front porch across the street.

These are looking out my back door and all the snow in my yard....on my deck is about 2 feet of drifts LOL....no bbq for sure! So that's been my week...I'm hoping to do some stitching this weekend....
